Still no sorting luck.

So i'll be simple.

I want my category to be sorted by an order that i want, tried product sort order, it's not working.

I also want my "All Listing" to do the same, sort by the order number i give it, how can i do this?

Am i doing something wrong?

All Listing -> Display Product Display - Default Sort Order Value: 8
Product Listing -> Display Product Listing Default Sort Order Value: Blank

Assigned the products the order i want them in, 1-2-3-4, and so on.

I haven't been able to get the custom sort order regardless of any of the options i toggled.

OK here is what you want to do.
Example you have a catalog named Designed and another one name gallery.

You need to do this.
goto admin
Catlog menu > Categories/Products
on Designed folder click the e button (green e) Edit mode
Scroll down and look for Sort Order: place a number in the box
click on save.

You need to do the same thing for your products as well
Sort order will be at the bottom of the page.

can you tell me how you listed your products that is how many catalog do you have and how many products are listed under each one.

I just have one category under my catalog and 53 products in it.
So it'd be

Catalog
-> Categories
-> Video Library
-> The products in it

If you only have the one Category ... assign a Sort Order to each of the Products and I would number in order by 1000s ...

This allows you to add more Products in the future and insert new products in the future ...

Now go to the Product Listing and set the Sort Order to blank, not 0 but blank, and it will sort based on your sort order ...

Is there a way to sort using multiple sort orders, i.e. in category 1 it sorts by one sort order, category 2 it sorts by another sort order, etc?

For instance I have a client who wants a dress to be 43 in category 1 and 4th in category 4.

Will this require me to add a custom field/fields?

If you are relying on Sort Order for multiple Categories you would have to have multiple Sort Orders or some pattern to the Sort Order to allow it to list correctly in the multiple categories ...
