The final answer from the web host is that it is a php script error at he point where zencart connects to paypal and back again. Can you suggest someone who can get this straightened out for me. It is way beyond me.
I had them do it will I was on the phone with them. Actualy, I had two differnet support people go through the actions and they saw how long it took.
I seriously do not know what to do. I've been trying for a week now, this is way beyond my bits of knowledge.
I'm rather stumped too. All I know for certain is it's another confirmation of why I would never run an ecommerce business on GoDaddy hosting.
I also know that if you're having such long access times to connect via CURL, you're gonna be dumping customer left and right.
The only slow access I experience connecting to PayPal is to their sandbox testing servers, and even that's only about a 3-second delay ... which is nowhere near as slow as the curl_test thing GoDaddy gave you to test with to talk to the apple website.
They can blame the problems on "a php script error" if they like. But I'm mindful that thousands of stores are using this same "php script" without problems when running on other hosting companies' servers.
