    Just to let everyone know I have a very simular problem. See also posts http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...t=89503&page=2 There seems to be many of us. Just a note. When I enable just IPN, IPN works fine.
    I will try some of the suggestions provided to get ec working. Let us hope. If this is a bug. And it may not be. (I am trying to find out if I need to have a CURL proxy setting). I hope ZC team is aware that there are a few of us that are having a similar problem.

    Oh, I do not know if this is an issue but in on post that DrByte made regarding this problem on another thread, he asked (among other questions) if that person was using Gift Certificates. My answer is Yes.

    Let us hope we have a solution.

    I removd All Payment modules except Paypal IPN and Paypal express checkout

    I just fund out that CURLSSL are enabled without need for a proxy at my service provider, so that is not the problem.

    Oh, Although we are talking about PalPal express. I need to indicate a message about IPN because I believe it may show the simular communications problem.

    At first it looks like IPN works but ZC never gets a confirmation that payment has been made. We get an email from PayPal that payment has been made but we never see it in ZC.

    Process is shown below:

    "unilateral" means that the email address you entered in your PayPal IPN module settings is not connected to a real PayPal account.
    PayPal is waiting for you to create a PayPal account using that email address, or link it to an existing account.

    OK DrByte I will check that out, but in the mean time I removed the IPN payment module. So all I had is the EC module, ALL other payment modules are removed.

    I did not use my paypal account. I went thru and keyed in my CC number etc. but there was a problem

    IPN FATAL ERROR :: No saved IPN session data available. Must be an Express Checkout or Direct Pay transaction.

    IPN FATAL ERROR :: Could not find stored session in DB, cannot re-create session as PayPal IPN transaction.

    Since this was Gift certificate there would be no address provided but what is the problem with Name:

    Our Name is Sawhorse Jewelry Designs and not our email address. No wonder the "recipient of this payment is Unregistered". Could this be the reason why we never received info from Paypal. And if so how do we correct? I see no problem with our PayPal account - Although there must be.

    If you believe that something's wrong with how PayPal is handling your email address, you'll need to talk to them about it.


    And, for the record, IPN issues are entirely unrelated to any issues you have with Express Checkout.

    I may have found the problem. (He said with tired eyes - pounding head). I may not have said this before but my site went dark because my provider wiped my data, etc out. (long story - not here). Anyway, PayPal Express Checkout stipulated (as if you did not know) under Configuration Instructions: that a specific URL should be used for (drum role please) Instant Payment Notification Preferences which is where I am having the problem.

    I have looked at this at least 20 times (ok, may be 5 times) and it looked correct. But, as you may have guessed by now it was NOT. When "we" reconfigured our site we must have made some "minor" changes. This was reflected in the URL. I corrected this in PayPal and as of now it "seems" to work.

    However, (there is always a however), I am not getting my redemption codes generated for my Gift Certificates. Another problem - another thread.

    The point here is to check - very, very carfully your Instant Payment Notification Preference url and make sure PayPal has it correctly.

    Glad you were able to fix your error.

    I, however, am still seeing issues, and I feel like I've double checked EVERYTHING. Trying to write some custom debug tools, and go through the checkout process manually now..
