    Default Digital Downloads Problem...

So, I'm in a mess, it seems. I sell mov and mpg files from my zen-cart store. I used to sell them as zip files so the files would automatically download, however, folks were having trouble unzipping the files. They would get various errors. So, I decided to swap the zip files out for .mov and .mpg files and I would just train the customers to "right click" and download that way.

However, a new problem arises with that. If you right click and put "save file as" it gives you a file called "index.php" which obviously won't work.

Anybody have a solution for this? I'm at a loss and don't feel I have a good answer. Fortunately/unfortunately, the store has taken off this month and I'm making 5-10 sales a day so time is of the essence for me.

Anyway, thank you for any insight.

Assuming you're using Zen Cart v1.3.7 or v1.3.7.1, try installing the updated download code from this post:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...190#post439190

If your browser is getting a request to download "index.php" after a delay, that's usually a timeout or failure on the webserver.
However, incomplete or corrupt files can happen for several other reasons. The linked code tries to work around some of the potential server problems.
You might also search for "download" in the FAQ area for some additional troubleshooting tips.

    Head up...
Not all people will have their mouse set to do task(click) on a right click, it could be a left click. Also most Mac mouse do not have a right or left button/click?
    just my two cents.

Thanks for your speedy response. The "index.php" files comes up immediately and there is no delay. When I control click and select "download linked file as" it comes up as "index.php" in the dialog box. If I select "download linked file" it just downloads it as "index.php.html". I'm having this problem in Safari and Firefox (haven't tested explorer).

I am using 1.3.7 and have installed the new header file as you suggested. Still no fix on this.

    Bottom line is this... since
1.) selecting "download" force plays the mov or mpg file,
2). zip files are getting errors and I never could figure that one out
3). right clicking (or control clicking) yields the "index.php" file,

Means I'm at a loss and my suddenly thriving store is out of commission. Crapola.

    Any more suggestions?

have you tried to set those setting to
    Download by Redirect to false.
and if your download by streaming is set to false.
this will allow your customers to download files in smaller chunks from the server. Only works if the files are least thn 8mb

also did you remeber to make sure the <zc-home>/pub directory on your server is set to fully read-able and write-able to 777 this only ables if you're host is Unix/Linux operation sys. this is only for Download by Redirect.

    Hope this helps

Also what is the application you are using to zip the files, One also has to think about Mac computers as well

Thanks a ton for your help. I set the redirect to false and make sure the pub directory was set to 777 and got this error when i tried to download.

Seems like we're getting close, but no cigar yet. :)

Any suggestions? Oh, almost forgot. Many of my files are 35meg in size.

As for the zip files, I'm using a mac. Which could be the problem. I'm using the built in zip program that comes with it.

Anyway, thanks. Still working on it!
