PayPal Express doesn't pass my customer info to paypal, is this normal?

While doing some testing, I noticed the paypal express mod does not pass the customer info to paypal.

I'm referring to when a customer is already logged in and goes through the normal checkout process.
When using paypal IPN, when the customer gets to the paypal payment page, it will already be prefilled with all their info (except credit card info of course).
But when using paypal express, the payment page is not prefilled. It forces the customer to enter their billing/shipping info again. This doesn't seem too express to me.

Is this normal? Is this the way the paypal express mod works? Why does it prefill the payment page like paypal ipn does?

Um ... if the customer has not yet logged into your store, and they click on "Express Checkout" ... then ... how are we supposed to guess "who" that customer is in order to send that information to PayPal?


If the customer instead logs into your store before choosing PayPal as a payment source, Zen Cart passes their customer details to PayPal in order to aid in expediting the payment process.

I'm having that very same issue.
On my site, you cannot purchase unless you are signed into my site.
Currently, I have paypal as the only option and my customers still have to fill everything out once they get to the paypal page.

Yes, that is exactly my point, sorry I wasn't so clear on my first post.

I'm strictly referring to customers who already have an account and are already logged in, that's how I tested.
PayPal IPN does pass their info to paypal, but PayPal Express doesn't.

Okay, I checked.
I changed my template to classic.
Went to paypal and the only thing zencart brought over was the email address.

I changed back to TM template.
Went to paypal and sure enough the ony thing zencart brought over was the email address.

Any Ideas on what to do to alleviate this issue?

I am also experiencing this exact problem.
I have v1.3.7 zen cart and v0.1b paypal module (I believe, that is what the module is telling me). In testing I'm afraid I cannot remember if this ever worked as I expected, or if it has always required me to re-enter details.

Is it possible paypal have changed field names so that those passed from zen cart are no longer correct?

Looking forward to a solution or explanation for this one.

The use a different template does not make a difference, be it stock classic template or a TM monster.

As ljdream00 mentioned, PayPal Express only passes the email address.

Can anyone confirm whether this is a bug or normal behavior?

OK, paypal express is NOT supposed to be clicked on by a logged in customer,

this is for those folks that dont want to create an account on YOUR site,

there is really NO reason to have both paypalIPN and express turned on,

anyont thats going to pay with paypal will pay by express before they login,
then paypal send their info back to you
