I have VAT set up for UK only at the moment.
I want it to be VAT priced regardless of the country that the customer is in. e.g Germany, USA, Spain etc.
What is the best way to do this?

anyone know how to do this?
Basically sell everything as Vatable for all the country codes without exception.
I understand that, I don't understand how I would make that happen.
I cant add every country to the VAT EEC zone I have set up, so how do I go about doing this please.
Eddie
umm you will NOT get much business from the US if you are charging us VAT
akk you would get from me is polite letter telling you to stick it, and tehn I would be contacting your governments taxing authority and reporting you
Zen cart PCI compliant Hosting
Admin - Locations/Taxs -> Tax Rates-> Define Zones -> Details -> Add Zones
We export to the US and Europe and it does make sense to charge VAT free if possible...
Just make sure your liability insurance covers you for exports we have to pay £250pa more to export to the States and Canada.
Give Business Link a call re export and VAT free sales outside the EEC they are very helpful

Thank you for all the replies.
The reason we HAVE to charge VAT is because our site is selling training courses (held in the UK) which under section 12 of the VAT regulations (as pointed out by HM Revenue & Customs) we HAVE to charge by law.
This also now applies to downloads for our audio products, but not CD's or DVD's.
OK... Having had a long chat with the VAT people again I need to set up in the following way:
For EC customers VAT on everything. At the moment it just works for UK customers - Do I need to set each EU country up as I have UK or is there a better way of doing this?
For NON-EC customers I require:
CDS and DVDs – no VAT
Coaching – charge VAT
Courses – charge VAT
Downloads – no VAT
Events – charge VAT
Other – charge VAT
I know where to add in the zones etc, just not sure what to add in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Eddie
This is my set-up:
Admin - Locations/Taxs -> Tax Rates->
and then define the zones as:1 Vatable Goods EEC 17.50%
3 VAT Free Goods Export Outside the EEC 0.00% Info
2 VAT Free EEC 0.00% Info
Admin - Locations/Taxs -> Tax Rates-> Define Zones ->
and then put the countries into the different folders.Folder EEC Within the EEC
Folder Outside the EEC Outside the EEC Info
Folder UK UK
You may have to change your VAT rate in the product as well.
OK I think I get it... just to make sure.....
I need all EEC with VAT on everything
All NON-EEC VAT on some items but not all.
Does your example allow for this? Is there not a simpler way of achieving this, we cant be the only store in the world with this issue as the VAT rules in the UK apply to all UK businesses!
Many thanks in advance for any help....
