I want to require shipping details to be equivalent to the billing details of a credit card. Is this possible? Reason: Extra-security on credit card payment.
Any options or settings needed? Thank you in advance!

Jun

Admin->Configuration->Maximum Values->Address Book Entries
change from default of 5 to 1 or could try 0
This way they won't be able to add new addresses, and will be forced to change their My Account address if they wish to ship to another place.

If I limit address book to 1 entry and then during checkout change address it will add second address to address book.
" NOTE: A maximum of 1 address book entries allowed. "
But there are 2 addresses now.
If I limit address book to 0 addresses, then customer still can see change address button during checkout, but it cannot change address.
It looks like bug to me.
not something I think that was looked at before,
so If I want to buy something from your site for My Mom, who lives in another state I would have to Buy it, have it shipped to me and then mail it out, because you wont let me drop ship it as a gift....
Just wanted to point out that you might be cutting your throat,
just remember due dilligance and look close at orders that DONT match billing and shipping,

I think that is personal preference of each seller.
And it does not change fact that described behavior of zencart is bug (or at least not logical). If I set maximum 1 address in address book and I can add second through checkout process and then have two addresses permanently, to me it looks like a bug. And have it set to 0 is not logical, because you need at least 1 address for account. Zencart will show that there is limit of 0 addresses and it will show 1 address. And in that case during checkout process is not possible to change address.
I'm just pointing to technical problem, I'm not discussing sales tactics or anything else.
I agree, I was merely stating why it hadnt been addressed
I dont think anyone else had thought of it,
it is up the the individual seller,
I wasnt trying to point anyone in any direction,
Just wanted to point out that there might be drawbacks,
didnt know if you had though of em thats all

This has been updated in the upcoming release where if set to >= 2 then you see the edit buttons to get to the add new address ...
NOTE: you will have to customize your text for the checkout_shipping and checkout_payment to suit your own needs ...

I'm not a real web designer / programmer, I just fake it. That being said wouldn't it be possible to hide the fields for the shipping and just pass the variables to them from the billing input to force them to match? Then just customize your checkout pages so that the customer sees the Billing info as Billing / Shipping and never sees another option for entering the shipping info....
That shoudl work right? Anyone see a reason why that wouldn't work? I have to force the billing and shipping to match for my employer and I was thinking of doing it along these lines. Just checked the forums to see if someone else had already done this, no sense in reinventing the wheel.
Thanks for any input, even if I am late to the party on this thread.
