HELP - in stock item is showing up as ***out of stock***

there are plenty of items in the "quantity" field

some possible clues:

1) the items that are showing up as ***out of stock*** are an item i duplicated twice (to make 3 variants of the same item in my shop) - i did this with the "copy" function in "Catalogue ---> Categories/Products"

2) i am using the "products with attributes" contribution - it has been working fine with everything else...

3) everything else in the shop is working fine

i punted and re-did the three products
it looks like the problem is that in the Attributes Controller i set up a field for "personalization" - and, if nothing was in there it would throw the error.

so, for now, i am going to remove the filed and count on folks to input the personalization into comments when they check out.

is there a good way around this kluge?

I'm a bit rusty on attributes, but can you make the personalization required and give them a certain word (like none) to put in there if they don't want it personalized?

there is a "required" check box in the "attributes controller" that i just had to turn off.

that is a great idea - as the solution i thought i had did not work.

in the "Text" option (under Product Options), how can you set the default to be "none" in the field and have them change it if they want something else?

the only thing i see in there is the "comment"
