    Default Edit Home Page

    Please help, I am new to Zen cart and the initial layout of this site was done by someone else and now I am not sure if it is change they made or if I am just clueless .

    I want to have an introduction of our company and a welcome message on the home page located on http://www.tierlantyn.co.za/shop What file do I need to edit? I thought it was the define_main_page.php in home/tierlant/public_html/shop/includes/languages/english/html_includes/via the define pages editor in tools and made my changes accordingly, but it does not display the content I typed in. Please could someone help me understand what file I should be editing?

    Thank you so very much for everyone’s help so far, if it was not for everyone’s inputs I would never have come so far. Much appreciated!

    Looks like your using a custom template overide so look here for the file to edit.
    Code:
    /includes/languages/english/html_includes/Lize/define_main_page.php
    Also check to see if you define_main_page turned on.
    Admin-->Configuration-->Define Page Status-->Define Main Page Status

    My Define Main Page Status is set to "1" in Admin-->Configuration-->Define Page Status
    The name of your current template is Lize which is stored in
    /includes/templates/Lize/

    To alter define_main_page for this template(Lize),
    you need to

    1.create a folder, named Lize, in
    /includes/languages/english/html_includes/
    2.Then you copy and send via ftp, define_main_page.php
    from
    /includes/languages/english/html_includes/
    to
    /includes/languages/english/html_includes/Lize/
    3. Then you can edit via your zencart admin

    I can edit the page in define page editor
    Via admin/tools/define pages editor, then define_main_page.php ??
    If you carried out my instructions correctly, then should work fine,
    but I don't know EXACT version of zencart you are using,
    and if your template is correct for that version..
    what happens if you alter your template to default i.e. Classic..
    can you edit and see define main page then?

    Did you make sure you gave correct permissions to your
    newly created define_main_page.php?
    what happens if you switch your zencart store
    to default template i.e. Classic..
    can you edit and see define main page then?

    Maybe your "tpl_index_default.php" file been edited or missing.

    Check here \includes\templates\Lize\templates
    And check here \includes\templates\template_default\templates

    If it been edited or you end up editing it needs to here:
    \includes\templates\Lize\templates

    Should have this code block:
    Code:
    <?php if (DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE_STATUS >= 1 and DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE_STATUS <= 2) { ?>
    <?php
    /**
     * get the Define Main Page Text
     */
    ?>
    <div id="indexDefaultMainContent" class="content"><?php require($define_page); ?></div>
    <?php } ?>
    If you haven't already done it you need to download Zen-Cart on your computer so you can compare the files against
    the files on your server.

    I have checked and both directories have the "tpl_index_default.php" file and it have the correct code.

    With regards to Misty's suggestion: Not sure how to the default Classic template. I can see that there is a folder called Classic where I created the Lize folder earlier in includes/languages/english/html_includes, with a define_main_page.php file in it. How should I change this?
