time bound discount for a category of product

Has anyone implemented a discount that is specific to a particular category of product? i.e. discount will be applied to only 'sandwich category'

Also has anyone implemented a discount that can automatically turn off after a certain time? i.e. order before 11am and get 5% off. but system automatically knows not to offer the discount after 11am.

SaleMaker in the Catalog ... SaleMaker ... menu can set a discount on 1 Category of Products ...

As to date and time, that is not part of SaleMaker nor Specials ...

It could, however, be custom coded ... have you got your coder hat on?

One day I will learn to code but for now I run a cafe all day...however I am willing to try this piecemeal.

1) I know the following code will define ALFOADS to be used in an output string showing the date and time.

how do I limit this definition to just show the hour as 11am i.e. using 24 hour clock.
