How to make text box attribute required and maximum length?

How can I make a text box attribute be REQUIRED so that they can't just submit it with no content, and also how do I limit the number of characters that they can use? :)

My understanding was that the required setting on attributes would prevent empty submittals in text attributes, but not so.

If you edit the Attribute and check the box:

Attribute Required
for Text:
No Yes

Then, go to the Options Name Manager and edit the Option Name and set the rows and size of the text input or text area box that you want to use ...

You all may be interested in this post, I found that it solved my problem of the text not being required no matter what I did as I have the IH2 mod installed a long time ago....wasn't until I added a text attribute that I ran into this though, and thios post fixed my problem right up
