Wrong Characters in Custoner-info when using Firefox

We've set up a ZenCart-installation for a customer which works fine. However, when new customers register using FireFox all norwegian characters are being replaced by some errorous characters. It works just fine in Internet Explorer.

This is what's defined in norwegian.php:
setlocale(LC_TIME, 'no_NO.ISO8859-1', 'nb_NO.ISO-8859-1', 'no', 'nb', 'nob-NO', 'no_NO', 'nb_NO', 'nor', 'norwegian', 'bokmal');

The three norwegian characters we have gets replaced by something like this:
胯繙?胯

Think I found the solution myself. The MySQL-database had latin1 as character-set so I ran "alter database <db> charset=utf8;".

Then I added 'default-character-set=utf8" in /etc/my.cnf (Red Hat-location) and restarted the mysqld-daemon.

Seems to work fine now
