    Default 406 Not Acceptable

I have just tried to add new manufacturer but got the following error...

    Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /admin/manufacturers.php could not be found on this server.

    Apache/1.3.37 Server at groovy-stuff.co.uk Port 80

Also when I try to add a new product category as well....

    Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /admin/categories.php could not be found on this server.

    Apache/1.3.37 Server at groovy-stuff.co.uk Port 80

I have just installed a couple of templates from the download section (although not yet running them) but nothing that I can see that is adding or changing anything in the admin section!

I have looked in the public_html/admin folder and the php files are there!!!????

Can anyone throw some light on this?

Something in the 'manufacturers.php' file and/or when adding a Product, is triggering the Server's Firewall settings. You will need to discuss the issue with your Hoster.

    Rob is correct.

It could also have something to do with "what" data you're entering ... perhaps triggering some "bad words" as defined by your hosting company's server configuration.

Sometimes overly-tight "mod_security" rules can cause that error message.

Sometimes more information is visible in your server's error logs.

You'll have to confirm with your hosting company though.

    Thanks folks

I have just emailed them now.

Probably a silly question but I don't suppose upgrade to 1.3.8 will solve it will it? Is it definitely at the server?

    Definitely at the Server level.

I would agree with DrByte that you are probably triggering a 'bad words' filter. You can test this using your Contact Us page.

Fill it out correctly and in the Text/Comments area, enter what you think may be 'bad words'. If you get the 406 error msg., you can eliminate one by one to see exactly where the problem is.
