I'm trying to create an Admin add on that will zip the whole site for the user to save localy.

1- Could this be usefull ?
2- How could I call the scrip as it MUST reside in teh root dir ?

Definitely useful for the ability to pack up and move to a new host or as a simple way to do regular backups. I've probably moved hosts 4 times since starting in ecommerce. Lots of folks start out on a cheap host that doesn't provide enough as the business grows. Other times they just prove to be bad with service or downtime, etc.
You should look to make it a complete solution with the most recent DB backup included. I could see this and a cron job being useful for those who's host doesn't provide it (then again, get a new host if they don't!).

I realized later that I was in a search result page and forgot to look at the date. My brain pegged it as a new post. Duh.
