Default Auspost: Flat rate for Metro, while based on weight for others?

    Hello,

Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to charge a flat rate for shipping in the metro area of a city (ie. Perth, Australia), while basing the shipping on weight when sending parcels outside of the metro area.

I realise this might be a long shot, however it is worth asking anyway.

    Kind regards,
    Anthony

Just run the flatrate and the austpost modules concurrently. :-)

    Hello,

    Thank you for the reply.

What then happens in the instance for example:

If the flat rate is set to $10 , and it is a heavy package going a far way away, I don't want the customer to be able to select the $10 option when it will actually cost about $50 of more via the Auspost Plugin.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

    Kind regards,
    Anthony

    Hi

To *prevent* your customers from doing this you'll need a little bit of customised code.
However, if, when you present the fixed price option you make sure the customers are aware it is for local delivery only they would have no need or reason to select it if it isn't a valid option for them.

This would be no different than offering a local pickup option. People from across the planet will be *able* to select 'local pickup' but there is no way you will actually deliver the items if they did so.

    Cheers
    Rod.
