Default Authorize.net AIM - error occurred trying to report this transaction to the merchant.

    ZenCart 1.3.6

When processing a payment, the transact.dll returns an error to the browser:

An error occurred while trying to report this transaction to the merchant. An e-mail has been sent to the merchant informing them of the error. The following is the result of the attempt to charge your credit card.

    This transaction has been approved.

It is advisable for you to contact the merchant to verify that you will receive the product or service.

    I also get an email:
Your script timed out while we were trying to post transaction results to it.
    Transaction ID: 0
Transaction Result: This transaction has been approved.

The following message was displayed to the customer:

------------------------------An error occurred while trying to report this transaction to the merchant. An e-mail has been sent to the merchant informing them of the error. The following is the result of the attempt to charge your credit card.

    This transaction has been approved.

It is advisable for you to contact the merchant to verify that you will receive the product or service.

    ------------------------------

Authorize.net support says they are expecting something to happen and it's not. As I understand it, they are expecting something like a "credit card transaction in proccess" message.

what is supposed to happen once the call to the transact dll is made? AND what has to be in place/set for that to happen?

    Thanks for your help.

The cause: Your store is taking more than 10 seconds to acknowledge to Authorize.net that you've received their notice of successful payment.

Here's a related thread ... their problem was related to a poorly-tuned hosting server: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82164

The thread you reference doesn't seem to provide a solution other than switching hosting companies - I host my own systems so that's not really and option.

Are there any instructions for optomizing a windows web server for the cart?

One more note - a decline and invalid card are working almost instantly.

    Any more suggestions?

Well, you said you're using v1.3.6.

The AIM module was given a huge overhaul in v1.3.8. Maybe the issues you've got are related to using older code?

I'm not planning to go back and study the 1.3.6 code for possible causes of the problems you're experiencing, esp since v1.3.6 is technically no longer officially supported.
I know the 1.3.8a AIM code can be used on v1.3.7 without problems. I haven't tried it on 1.3.6.

You could try the 1.3.7 update module posted here and see if it operates any differently, as it incorporates a number of the fixes and updates built-in to the 1.3.8 module:

In my opinion I haven't many good looking templates beyond 1.3.6...I had difficulty with some templates when running 1.3.8....maybe I'll try again as I've worked through most issues that may not relate to the cart version

thanks for your attention....this must be an overwhelming job as I see you reply to just about every thread
