Default Admin changes not showing in cart (sidebox controls etc)

    Hi All,

I am very sorry if this has been asked/answered before but I can not find anything on the forums about it for the life of me!! anyway we have just installed zen cart for the first time and all was going fine with changing how things look and so forth but when using admin to remove or add boxes it only changes things on public side now and then; an example is there is 3 search boxes on cart I only wanted the 1 left at the top so I turned it off in admin but no changes on cart side this also happens with other boxes; its showing in admin as though they have been removed but when you go to the cart the boxes are still there any help would be greatly appraciated as we have had our online store offline for over a week now as we had to change providers as our last providers security and tech help was usless!! we used Oscommerce on that account but wanted to change to zen cart when we changed providers.

Once again sorry if this has been asked before

    Kind Regards

    Paul

    More information would help ...

What version of Zen Cart are you using?
What addons/contributions do you have installed?
What template are you using? Where did it come from? Who designed it? What version of Zen Cart was it built for?
    What is your site URL?
What version of PHP and MySQL are on your server?

Sorry DrByte I should have already had that info in already! brain is a bit in tatters today Zen cart version is 1.3.7 and no addon's or contibutions as yet its a fresh install using cpanel 11.16.0-RELEASE and the template is the original green one that comes with it all I have edited on that is I changed the colour of it using photoshop but I did not change the original name of that file, PHP version is 4.4.4 and My SQL version is 4.1.22 standard; operating system is linux and Apache version is 1.3.37(unix)

The site url is http://pandtaromaticcandles.com.au/shop but its still in its very basic form at the moment as i would like to get this problem fixed before going on to add anything else.

    Kind Regards

    Paul

It's possible that paths used in the 2 configure files are not quite right. Could also be a database problem with regard to what, if any, Table prefix is being used.

Can you confirm the above has been checked and is setup correctly?

You may not like this thought, but Zen Cart v1.3.7.1 and v1.3.8a have been released and incorporate a years' worth of improvements and bugfixes. If you're planning to build a store, you might consider upgrading to a newer version before you go too far down the road. Especially if you plan to use USPS for generating shipping quotes, since v1.3.8 contains a required fix for it to work properly due to USPS changes made in November.

Normally those changes will take effect immediately ... esp if you're using the supplied classic/default template unmodified.

Website Rob's point is valid -- if the admin area is pointing to a different database than the storefront, any changes you make to the admin will not be reflected in the storefront.

However, if you have never edited those files after your installation, the problem is rather less likely to be with the settings in those files.

I suppose it's worth checking to see what the SQL_CACHE_METHOD is set to in those files though. If it's not set to 'none', then set it to 'none' for now.

Also, clear your browser's cache and cookies ... maybe you're seeing old cached content unexpectedly?

    Um ... a few observations:
    1. Why are your files double-spaced?
    2. Were those files generated by the zc_install installer? Or by your one-click cPanel install?
    3. It's not good that your DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE entry is set to a bogus "demo" value:
    Code:
     define('DIR_FS_SQL_CACHE', '/enter/your/path/to/public_html_or_htdocs/and/zencart/here/zen/cache');
It should normally be the same as your DIR_FS_CATALOG, with /cache on the end of it.
