Gift Certificate fully redeemed but customer still owes money

Situation:
When a customer redeems a coupon for the full amount of a purchase, zen cart is still telling the customer they owe money.

Note:
The gift certificate balance is higher than the amount of a product being purchased

Example:
Gift certificate balance for customer: $60

Amount purchased (including tax and shipping): $45.15
(made up of product: $39.95, Shipping $5.20)
(i.e. $41.05 plus $4.10 tax, sales tax rate 10%)

Amount of gift voucher entered by customer: $45.15
Amount of gift certificate applied: $44.65

It looks like zen cart is subtracting tax from the gift certificate before it is applied. None of the tax settings for the module have any impact on this error.

Found the solution to the problem - a combination of settings that hadn't been tried. The Tax Class needed to be set to none.

The final settings that worked were:

Sort order: 840
Queue: true
Include shipping: true
Include tax: true
Recalculate tax: none
Tax class: none
credit including tax: false
Set order status: default

I'm having this problem too, only for us it's showing up when the welcome gift voucher is sent. How can i change its tax class to none? thanks

to be more specific, my problem is that after you type in the funds to apply, it still asks for credit card information If you submit valid cc info, it moves to step 3 where it shows a zero balance charge to the credit card.

but how can i get that requirement removed?

I have the same issue. Anyone know how to not require credit card info when using a git voucher the the full amount?

What version of Zen Cart are you running where this is happening that entering the full amount in GV is not being accepted on the checkout_payment without selecting a payment method?

Dollar amount does not add up when using a Gift Certificate.

Sub-Total: $9.50
Flat Rate (Best Way): $12.00
CA TAX 7.38%: $0.70
Gift Certificates: -$5.00
Total: $33.70

Note when using the Gift Certificate, the total should be $ 17.20 and I've tried multiple items where it continually adds more total due. Where could this calculation be going wrong?
