Upgrade error from 1.36-1.38a

Hi Guys,

my webhost upgraded to MySql 5 a few days ago and I'm using Zen Cart 1.36. I didn't know about the upgrade and my homepage (www.xtreme-stunts.com) doesn't display anymore. I started this thread previously http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86852 . To fix my dilemma, i tried to upgrade from version 1.36 to 1.38a now but when i run the database upgrade, i recieve this error message:

in:
[select admin_id, admin_name, admin_pass from zen_admin where admin_name = 'stuntsmo']


When i login to my admin, it displays as version 1.38 and everything seems to be working alright. However, my website just doesn't show anymore.

Any idea what the problem could be? I disabled Ultimate SEO's..

i recieve this error message:

in:

Do your database-upgrade steps one at a time, instead of all at once.
ie: uncheck the extra selected boxes so you do the earliest suggested step first, alone. Then the next one, etc.

Hi DrByte, I did the steps one by one but still have a problem with the upgrade. I could at least login to my admin now by disabling SSL.

What I did now is wipe out my complete server (I made a backup). I installed a fresh version of Zen-Cart 1.38a on there and it is working fine. Base configuration. no products, no mods,no changed texts, etc...

Then dumbed everything from the newly created database and upload my old 1.36 database into the newly created, empty 1.38a database. however, i started receiving the same error again. Therefore, the problem lays in database compatibility for php4, mysql 4 versus the new php5 & mysql 5 to which my host upgraded.

can anyone of you tell me what i have to modify in my 1.36 database version to make it compatible with the new zen cart 1.38a. I want to use my old zen cart database because of all my products and configurations. The categories i have in the database are as follows (Please ignore "Browse"):

If you imported your 1.3.6 database data into your 1.3.8a database, you need to use zc_install again to upgrade the 1.3.6 data to 1.3.8 format.

The error I receive now when dropping this 1.36 database into the 1.38a version of zen-cart reads:

1146 Table 'xtremest_zc138a.project_version' doesn't exist
in:
[select * from project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

this is for the admin login.


the error i get for the homepage: www.xtreme-stunts.com is:

1146 Table 'xtremest_zc138a.configuration' doesn't exist
in:
[select configuration_key as cfgkey, configuration_value as cfgvalue from configuration]

So after installing the new zen version 1.38a, i would dump the 1.38a database and import my old 1.36 database into it. Then i try to run the install procedure again?

I actually just tried what I implied in the previous post but the installation manager tells me that:

Previous Zen Cart™ Installation Found
However, the version level of your database cannot be determined, usually resulting from wrong table prefixes, or other database settings mismatches.



It just overwrites my database and doesn't give me the option for an upgrade.

It seems as though your old database had a table-prefix (DB_PREFIX) set and your new site is using a different prefix.
Thus you're dealing with two separate sets of tables, and you've got total confusion.

So:
1. Look at your 1.3.6 database, and see what the table-names start with.
Are they named "address_book", "admin", "coupons", etc? If so, your prefix is blank.
Or are they named "zen_address_book", "zen_admin", "zen_coupons", etc?
If it's the latter then "zen_" is your table-prefix, and you'd find that setting in your configure.php files as DB_PREFIX.

2. In your 1.3.8 configure.php files, set the appropriate DB_PREFIX to match the data you imported from 1.3.6

3. Run zc_install again to do the upgrade.

4. Delete all the extra tables from your database ...ie: the ones using a different prefix than what you set in #2 above.

thank you soooooo much!!!! The database prefix was the problem. I upgraded and everything is working now. I just have to change all the texts again, as i'm still not very familiar with the override system

I will get back to work now. So much till ahead of me.
