    Default Gift Registry

Does anyone know of a good gift registry that works nicely with zencart?

I have been looking into implementing a Gift Registry as well. Narrowed it down to two options:

The Free Option: Wishpot - A free wishlist management system that allows customers to make wishlists/registries from other online sources. The main problem is there is no order tracking in the registry. So perhaps having it modified would cost me more than the next option...

The Package Option: Zen Cart Gift Registry and Wish List - It has a number of neat features like that people can search for others registries, it does allow for tracking of registry items (yay!), and is overall much more polished.

So what do you guys think? Would I be better off getting it Wishpot modded to my needs or would I be better off with a commercial module?

The commercially available module is comprehensive and well-designed - and does what a registry ought to do. I personally think that when no free solution is available, going for commercial modules is often a good decision because:

    1. You get the benefit of the feature/function immediately.
    2. You don't have to spend hundreds of hours trying to develop the function yourself, or having to pay someone to do it. (Why re-invent the wheel).
    3. If you pay for a module, you can reasonably expect the vendor to offer support for it.

I have had a go at creating modules and appreciate the huge amount of work often involved in this. I therefore do not have issues with people who offer good modules for sale. Naturally, caveat emptor applies...

I have to add to this ...I've been trying to work with the owner of this module for the last two weeks and we can't get it to work
correctly on my website. I need to have forced selections (colour)
and text. The images don't look right and other things. It's been a long drawn out affair and in the end it didn't work for me. Very buggy. Fortunately, he gave me my money back and was nice (but slow). I just wish it had worked!

So if someone buys it, make sure you use it for a couple of weeks
and work the heck out of it before you pay.
    Just my two cents worth

I don't want to use a third party one, so I'll go with none.
I noticed there is a wish list one, but I can't seem to get it working
on my site. Maybe it doesn't go with v 1.3.8a. Does anyone know??
