coupons and gift certificates questions

How are these applied? And by that I mean are the discounts applied to the order as a whole?

Recently I've created a heap of coupons that were good for one product only and it would be nice to know that in an order of article A and article B, A was discounted by a coupon but B was not.

And I've looked at the wiki and in our database and have one candidate but I'm hoping to someone here can point me to the table/tables where I'll be able to pull out information on what coupons and/or gift certificates were used on an order.

You can use coupon restrictions in teh admin. Create a coupon, then view the coupon list, and click the one you want. You'll see the restrictions button on the menu on the right. You then need to restrict for the WHOLE catalogue, and enable for certain products.

With the redemption, you need to look in following tables to see where the coupons and GV were used: COUPONS_REDEEM_TRACK and ORDER_TOTALS. With the order totals tables, you need to search for the ot_coupon, and ot_gv classes.
