Default Error (13) The merchant login ID or password is invalid or the account is inactive.

Does anyone know why I am getting the following message when trying to buy something on my Zen cart. It was working but now it's not and I don't know why.
    Thanks.

Message I am getting once you click the last submit button at checkout:

    The following errors have occurred.

    (13) The merchant login ID or password is invalid or the account is inactive.

    Any ideas?

    thanks.

Um ... reading it literally, it suggests that you've got a bad password or transaction key set up in your merchant account (payment module) configuration or else your merchant account is inactive.

    Hi,

I'm getting this error too. I have checked with Authorize.net and the account is active and I have double checked my id and transaction key are correct.

Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks!

No worries...I figured out what it was....

The Authorize.net account had been in test mode when I requested the Transaction Key. I needed to request a new transaction key once I took it out of test mode. It then worked.

I just got off the phone with Authorize.Net customer service.

Here's the deal: In the sample code, they have a reference to a server named: https://test.authorize.net/gateway/transact.dll
This url is for developer accounts only. In other words, if you have a normal account that is intended to process credit cards, this server is not for you, even if you want to run some test transactions.

You should use this server instead: https://secure.authorize.net/gateway/transact.dll
If you want to test a transaction, send x_test=true, or log in to the account at Authorize.Net and set the account to TEST MODE, or both.

Zen Cart always sends to the secure.authorize.net address. There is no built-in switch to allow you to send to test.authorize.net without changing core code.

Basically, the module is production-ready, and therefore does NOT need or support use of a Developer account.

If you want to do test transactions, enable the Test Mode switch within your Zen Cart admin -- this will send the x_test=true parameter automatically.
