No Picture Available?

Is there a way to get rid of the box that says "No Picture Available" when I don't have a picture of a product? I'd rather nothing appears.

Product Image - No Image Status
Use automatic No Image when none is added to product
0= off
1= On

my shop has version v.1.3.9d

i had turned off the picture too but have decided that i would like to put my own image there for missing image. i will be using the sites logo instead. now how do i make that change? how do i change thier no_picture.gif with my logo_no_product_image.png?

Either upload your own image for the no_picture.gif ... or change the image used in the Configuration ... Images ...

but where do i put the image? i tried to find the standard image so i would know where to put mine but couldn't find it or anyone talking about it. i have a 12leaves.com free template for my zen-cart. i don't know if that will make a difference.

no_picture.gif or its replacement goes in the base /images/ folder.

i don't understand what that means. i need clear dumbed down directions like this: /public_html/includes/languages/english/images/

i know that isn't where it goes but i'm looking for that kind of direction. thanks everyone for trying to help!

/public_html/images is the default location for that file

(when gjh said base he was referring to the base or root directory for your site, which in this case appears to be public_html)
