is there a module which enables one to enter the cost of an item so one can calculate profits or produce a p/l account?

There is a profit margin mod in Downloads - not sure exactly what it will do for you, but worth taking a look at.

It seems this is an area which ZenCart does not cover well. Whilst ZC has many good points the absence of any means of tracking profitability and costs of items etc it a major weakness. It effectively doubles all one's work and is a major minus point. What do other people think?

There are two major areas which are very weak within ZC:

The absence of a proper working module for allowing wholesale pricing and prices to specific groups - I've had too many problems with the existing lot and have given up.

The absence of ZC to produce proper accounting figures.

One script can not be all things to all individuals

There is a group that would like retail/wholesale while others want other things and if everything was included venture how large and more difficult to confifure it would be

Zen Cart is a Cart - not an accounting package - there is a Quick Books port for it if you need/want accounting

There is always the commercial help if there are things that you just can not work without - you will soon find that the benefit might not measure up to the cost
