How can index.php find shop

Hi,
if I install zen in a folder called shop.
If the domain name is www.myshop.com
Does the Index.php reside in the root of the web directory so typing www.myshop.com/index.php starts the zen program?
if so how does it find the zen in the shop folder.

if so, you will have to access the shop thru site.com/shop/index.php (with or without index.php is the same)
if you want to access the site at site.com instead, you have to move the shop to the root folder
