would you be by chance designing your site in IE?
and the link to the site would be nice
I found this on the web;
What is a Favicon?
The favicon (pronounced fav-eye-con, shortened form of 'Favorites Icon') is specific to Internet Explorer 5, and the Konqueror web browser. It is used to customise the icon next to your bookmarked web site to be your own customised logo. This is useful because it will remind a visitor about your site, as your link in the favourites will stand out. The favicon is a normal Windows icon file (.ico). It generally measures 16x16 pixels and consists of 16 colours.
I don't think it is a firefox problem...I have favicons. Try clearing your cache, then see if they show.
Try re-bookmarking your site.
I have the same issue. www.MugAndMallet.com/web/index.php
Shows fine on my 3 shops, Firefox or IE or "what-ever-else". Don't think this is a ZC issue at all
For some reason, some sites need a bit of coding inserted in order for the favicon to show up on every browser. I don't know what it causing it (my first thought is file sizes, actually) - regardless there IS a problem (interesting the number of people who are in denial about the existence of this problem), AND, most importantly, there IS a solution.
It may not be a "zen cart issue" but it IS a zencart file that needs to be added to.
WHERE TO INSERT THE CODE:
index.php in the root directory (usually public_html or www) for your store - at the bottom of the file
<head>
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico?" type="image/x-icon" />
</head>
It could be with or without the question mark - try it without first and then with it.
Um, NO.
That's A BAD IDEA. One should NEVER touch the contents of the index.php file in the root directory, ESPECIALLY not for the reasons you suggest.
Instead of hacking up core code, why not just use the built-in capability? https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=52
Telling people to hack up core code is a bad idea, since it makes upgrades more difficult down the road, and also makes tech support more complicated, thus doing nobody any favors.

DrByte,
I appreciate your concern. However, this was the only solution that I could find that actually works to have my favicon show up in Firefox.
If you have another idea, I would really appreciate it. It appears most people on this forum are split in two camps - those who have the problem and those who deny the problem exists. Noone has a solution.
I appreciate sending the link to the tutorial, but following those instructions to a T does not display my favicon in Firefox.
Currently it works - but only because of the above specified coding change.
Please advise what different instructions I should follow in order to make the favicons work.
Thank you!
