Default Logging into admin and i get "ERROR_SECURITY_ERROR"

I've tried logging into my admin, as far as i'm aware
i've made no changes to it but now i keep getting this
ERROR_SECURITY_ERROR when i try to log in.

I've tried adding a new password in the mysql, I've
also tried replacing the login.php but i don't know
    what else to try.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers, ToNy!

    Two things:

    1. ERROR_SECURITY_ERROR is a constant defined in your language files. If you're seeing the name of the constant instead of its definition, you've missed updating your language files during your upgrade, or you've installed older-version files perhaps as part of an addon contribution you've uploaded.

    2. If it's also happening in your storefront, then your template files need to be upgraded as well ...

I got this error in the admin but it was caused by a faulty path to the session.save_path, that you can of course set up in the admin > configure > Sessions. But, since I had no access to the admin, I corrected the path via phpMyAdmin, searching the configuration table for part of the faulty path.

    Thanks for sharing.

Instead of using phpMyAdmin to mess with the raw database, you could use the fix_cache_key utility from the Free Addons area to accomplish the same thing

No. You need to do a thorough cleanup of all damage done. And that includes upgrading to the latest version.
