I'm looking for someone who might be able to help figure this out for Ohio.
Some states like Kansas and Ohio offer a service where you push the address to the state over the 'net and they return back the proper tax rate for you. There has been talk about the Kansas solution. Here is Ohio's:
https://thefinder.tax.ohio.gov/Strea...ice/About.aspxpp.
If you push a postal address to the above web service you can get back the zip+4 and the actual sales tax at that point in time. The reason this is important in Ohio is because a simple zip+4 will return two or three different tax rates if it spans across three counties.
In Ohio, a few of our counties have sub-districts that have sales tax differences than the county. Simply determining the sales tax of Franklin county doesn't account for the small area of that county that has a COTA district.
Using the web service would resolve this. I've looked at some code that Yacko1975 posted in this thread: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...76&postcount=6
...but I'm not good enough at this to understand XML/Soap to integrate it. Is anyone interested in helping me figure this out?
In Ohio they've implemented the web service via https and require an account to utilize the service. I have setup an account for this and can lend assistance with testing it.
My thought is if this could be figured out it'd be a great addition to the Local Sales Tax mod.
