Default Tried Tried Failed -- Cannot redeclare class "cache"

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class cache in /home/benchma/public_html/base/includes/classes/cache.php on line 215

This is what I get when going to the /admin folder. Thus I cannot do any administrative work.

Checked everything I know to check.

All assistance very grateful for. Thank you.

Your error message suggests that you've got a copy of "cache.php" in one of the extra_configures or extra_datafiles or extra_functions folders of your admin area.

Start by comparing all your webserver files against a fresh unzipped copy of uncustomized Zen Cart ... and note which files are on the server but not in the basic Zen Cart files. WinMerge can be a handy tool for that.

Oh, and remember, if you're making changes to files and you want to rename something to keep a backup, DO NOT leave the file with a .php extension. Change .php to .php1 or .bak or .old or something *other than* .php (or else you'll run into odd problems somewhat similar to what you mentioned).

Thank you. I have reinstalled ADMIN, and checked all files to my best. Still no go. My server uses sql 5.0**. Is that OK?

    I still get:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class cache in /home/benchma/public_html/base/includes/classes/cache.php on line 215

Also, WINMERGE: does it work with my FTP files or do they have to be both on my pc?

Zen Cart largely works with MySQL 5.0.

Your problem is not a MySQL issue. You've likely got duplicates of .php files somewhere ... not necessarily in the admin.

WinMerge runs with files on your PC only. You'll have to download from your FTP first before doing the compare.

Thank you Doctor. I downloaded another FTP program since my WSFTP had stalled a few times. I reuploaded the whole program in a new folder. This time everything has worked perfectly.

I also purchased the zen book and have received it in the mail.

Thank you for your quick assistance.
