Writting my HOME WELCOME page

Hi.

I am a NEWB, total and complete, not proud of that, jealous of the non-newbs and trying to learn so I can move to "kind of knows what she's doing" mode

I am working on my site (my first ZEN experience) and don't know how to put on the first page above my items that are RIGHT THERE...info...my personal wording.. like, you know, "Welcome! Thanks for visiting..blah blah blah " and I'd like to add my dog's pic there, too.

How do I go about this? I have been looking. Is it an easy page?

I also wonder how to add pics on the easy page...on IE7 (using VISTA), it only brings up a HTML page for inputting words, but no "upload pic" or anything....ie: I want to add a sizing picture to my "Sizing Chart" page (see: dressfido.com)

(Also, IF I wanted to add an easy page to the INFO area and not under "Important LInks" which is where it plopped, how do I do that? Does it have to do w/ the number you use? (ie: sidebox 10))

ALSO, a last question for now: HOW do I change/update my "shipping info" "privacy" and all that under "INFO" area...I looked for hours last night and today and can't seem to locate it...I found an area where to WRITE that info, but it does not publish it...unless I am overlooking something?

A lot of pages can be modified using the Define Pages Editor in Admin>Tools.

To insert an image onto one these pages (same for an EZ page), add something like this:

<img src="http://www.yourdomain.com/images/example.gif">

where example.gif is an image located in your images folder on your server

and yourdomain is your web address

Ok...so, I can only HTML it that way using FTP to upload into my images in my cpanel and then doing that above thing you gave me...there is not an easy page like this here that I am typing on where I can hit that "upload pic from your computer" thingie?

OK...and---any takers as to HOW to write on my home page a nice little "welcome" message before it goes into pictures as it now does?

Normally a welcome message would be written using the Define Pages Editor (define_main_page.php). However, I notice you have quite a different design compared to the standard Zen Cart site, so it might be different for you.

Regarding one of your earlier questions, to add an extra page to your information sidebox, I think it would be best to look at the About Us Page contribution and modify it accordingly before uploading.

To edit the define pages (conditions, privacy, main page, etc.),
you'll need to make copies of the define pages files that you
intend to customize from includes/languages/english/html_includes, and
place them back in includes/languages/english/html_includes/your_custom_template_name.

I will check all that out and I appreciate the pointers to info!

I have different websites and all are on different carts, so it gets nutso when you are new...but some were purchased and you get what you purchase for your cart.

(We'll see how it goes or I may have to consider selling if I can't really get it or can't make it into a creloadedpro6 cart which i have....so far, I'm happy that I am actually doing stuff...but you have to remember not to panic be patient (the hardest thing when you want a site up and going yesterday!) & research.

I am certain that new ZEN BOOK would be of great assistance and when I know I am going to keep my sites and keep them ZEN, I would definately purchase it. Definately. )

P.S thanks for making me realise that an EZ page is an "easy" page. We pronounce Z differently in the UK so I've always wondered about that.
