    Default API Permission/Credentials

I am setting up a cart for a client who is applying for the Paypal Website Payments Pro account.

Paypal has asked him to choose one of the following options:

Grant API Permission to your shopping cart or solution provider if the cart will make API calls on your behalf.

    or

Request API Credentials to create an API username and password for either your preintegrated shopping cart or a custom solution that you are developing.
let me know which we need to choose.

Which one is best for Zencart?

You want signature, NOT the certificate.

API instructions can be found here: http://www.zen-cart.com/getpaypal

4.Click the Get Started link under the Request API Credentials heading.
5.Click the API signature radio button under the Credential Type heading.

they dont exist on the paypal site anymore, you need to select

    Select -
Request API Credentials to create an API username and password for either your preintegrated shopping cart or a custom solution that you are developing,

that will give you all the info you need to setup the basic express, in the settings depending on the account location you need to select you need to select Payflow-US or -UK, then save the settings and goto edit again to enter your payflow details.

    Hope that helps,

Their PayPal account representative can give them that information once their account is activated and passes credit check.

I was looking for this answer this morning and stumbled on this thread.. It took a minute to piece together what the steps are as of today.. The steps listed in http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=15 appear to be out of date.. So I thought it might be helpful to post the current steps for this in case it helps others with the same questions..

    • Step 3: Setup API Access
      1. Log in to your PayPal Business account.
      2. Click the "Profile" subtab located in the top navigation area
      3. Click the "API Access" link under the "Account Information" header.
      4. Under the "Setting up PayPal API Credentials and Permissions" heading, click the “Request API Credentials” link
      5. Click the “Request API signature” radiobox then click “Agree & Submit” button
      6. Write down the values listed next to API Username and Password
      7. Select the value listed next to Signature Hash, copy it, and save it to a file or some other location. This is your API Signature.
      8. Use the values from #7 and #8 to configure the API SIGNATURE settings in the PayPal Express Checkout module in your Zen Cart™ admin area.
