Problems Adding a bottle deposit attribute

OK, I have added an attribute called "deposit" with a price of .10 added. This shows up on my cart as .12. It is obviously calculating the 19% sales tax of my price.

Is there a way to add my attribute without tax added to it??? We must charge a deposit for bottles and we can not be charging people 19% tax for this. Is there some other way that I can get this to work??? Is there a way for the attribute to become a separate product???

Or, is there a way I can create a product called deposit 10 cents and link it automatically to the item in the shopping cart??

This is a major (and previously overlooked) problem for us at the moment so any help would be greatly appreciated.
