    help question I think I messed up.....Help!

    My site is www.KamaainaDeals.com

    When I uploaded ZenCart with FileZilla, I apparently uploaded it to :

    /candy/zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007

    Now when you go to KamaainaDeals.com you get a file directory instead of my store.

    What do I do??

    How do I fix this?

    I'm using Blue Host, if that helps at all.

    Thanks sooo much

    Your zencart install is currently sitting at:-

    http://www.kamaainadeals.com/candy/z...eset-12112007/

    What you need to do is (on your HARD DRIVE), open the folder called:-

    zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007, and perhaps again...

    Until you will see FOLDERS:-
    -admin
    -cache
    -docs
    -download
    -editors
    -email
    -extras
    -images
    -includes
    -media
    -pub
    -zc_install

    -- (and several FILES).

    These are the FOLDERS and the FILES you need to FTP to your CANDY directory

    What you could do, (but it involves a bit of editing) is MOVE your install up a directory and then modify your configure.php files so that the new paths are inserted.

    ... SORRY - HOLD IT... !

    Do you want your website to open up at your zenshop:-

    www.KamaainaDeals.com

    ... or do you want the zenshop to open up at a SUB directory of your website:-

    www.KamaainaDeals.com/candy

    ???

    If you want it to open at your main URL (www.KamaainaDeals.com), then you FTP all those folders and files into your Public_html folder.

    Thanks soooo much you guys..

    I do want it to open at www.KamaainaDeals.com. I will upload it to the Public_html folder.

    Will it hurt to have it uploaded in two places? Should I then erase files from /candy/zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007 ??

    Anything else I will need to do?

    Thanks again!

    If you move the files with your FTP client, (drag and drop) they'll disappear from the original folder. If not, yes, after you confirm that the site works in the root folder, you can delete the original files.

    Then you'll need to edit admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php to remove the /candy from these lines:

    define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.kamaainaDeals.com/candy');
    define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://'www.kamaainaDeals.com/candy');
    define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'www.kamaainaDeals.com/candy');
    define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'www.kamaainaDeals.com/candy');

    Yes... if you do a FRESH upload to your public_html folder, then you are well-advised to DELETE the copies in all sub-folders.

    If you MOVE the original install up to your root (public_html) directory, then you MUST change the path settings in your configure.php files.

    There are TWO of these, and you must not confuse them with each other.

    includes\configure.php
    admin\includes\configure.php

    There is LOTS of advice on the forum regarding these important files, so read up about what they do, and how to configure them.

    Also, do not forget to REMOVE the install directory when the install is complete, and you must also set your configure.php files to either 644 or 444 CHMOD permissions.

    If you fail to do this, you will get big red error messages in your shop header!

    If you set CHMOD to 644 and you still get the error bars, then use 444.

    File editing should be done with a good text editor, such as CRIMSON editor (free on the www - search google). Don't use any c-panel editors as they are known to corrupt php code.

    Always DOWNLOAD a copy of php files to your hard drive, edit them on your local machine, then FTP back to the server.

    You would do well to learn about the OVER-RIDES system that zencart uses.

    Thanks soooo much for all your help! I seemed to struggle using filezilla to upload my site. I just haven't used ftp stuff before.

    In case anyone else finds this post helpful, I finally called Bluehost, my hosting service and they removed the old one and installed the new one for me in about 30 seconds.

    Those people are sweet!

    Thanks again!
