Not to sure why you would setup 18 zones within NZ simply because Fastway NZ doesn't have that many zones from any single shipping point.
Get a copy of their national shipping schedule from their head office in Napier.
I am currently doing a full rewrite of the postcodes I have because it has all the old postcodes. This won't be available for a while as I work full time and there is a substantial amount of code to go through. Once I have it done I will make it available.

I have a txt doc of all the NZ postcodes, converted from a pdf from NZ post. The problem now is I don't know how to incorporate this into the Fastway module. the txt can be downloaded here: http://kuholdings.com/estore/NZ_postcodes.txt
Any ideas?
To much information contained within that document. The shipping module doesn't (and can't) use the street names. So based on that you only need the suburb complete with postcode. Once you have all the suburbs and postcodes together then you need the Fastway trans shipping schedule to add the zones from your particular shipping point.

Fred, I am trying to work out how to get this module working for New Zealand now.
What code did you change to make this work and what format do you the sql files in?
I have a copy of the Fastway postal codes and rural areas so will need to reformat them so they work.
Any help appreciated.
John
I guess this thread has gone dead?
Anyone out there who has a working shipping modules for New Zealand who is willing to share their experience. I am using fastway to deliver our the country but also looking at International.
Cheers
John
Hi John
Sorry for the lengthy delay in responding to this post, but I almost never visit this site any more.
To get the current Fastway Shipping module to work for NZ you have to make some choices simply because of the limitations of the module itself.
Currently you are limited to so many zones. In NZ Fatsways zoning exceeds that number.
So what I did was to get my customer to limit the tickets purchased to Local, North Island & South Island giving me just 3 zones to deal with.
I then changed all the SQL statements by hand to reflect all the post codes and broke them up into their respective zones.
Then set the pricing for the 3 zones within the shipping module inself.
Simple really.
My current SQL statements only have the old post codes, and I am working in changing them over, but current workload is preventing me from doing that.
Note: The SQL statement only has the post code listed once with the respective suburb, no street names. This is because the current module in its current state doesn't reference street names anyway, so there is no point in cluttering your SQL database with them.

Thanks for the tips Fred. Am snowed under with work at the moment but will get to this in a couple of weeks. Sounds like a simply solution. :-)

Hi everyone
Sorry for the delay in responding to this.
I have exported our NZ fastway table and made it available for download.
You can get it here.
I have added plain text to the head of the file so you may want to read what I have said.
Sorry but it only contains the old postcodes, but as I have said, I have just been to busy the change them over. If someone wants to change them over I will be happy enough to make the new codes available for download.
My direct email is in the file. Please don't all email me about the file, if you look at its structure it is all very plain and clear how it is all setup. I will try to help if you do manage to become very stuck, but it has been a long time since I did this and I haven't done another one since.
I hope it helps those wanting to get it all up and running.
Regards
Fred
