    Default Choice of upgrade approach

Hi all, and thanks in advance for nay help.

I have built a functional zencart site on localhost with version 1.3.7.1.
The good people at my hosting company have provided me with an install of 1.3.8a with Ultimate SEO URLS.

I'm not sure which approach to take:

    1) Upgrade my localhost version from 1.3.7.1 to 1.3.8a, then migrate this onto my live web space. How easy would this approach be?

    2) Delete the live install of 1.3.8a, install my own 1.3.7.1 onto live server, then migrate my local 1.3.7.1 to that. Would it be okay to just do that and not upgrade to 1.3.8a?

If it's important I intend to use google checkout.

I really need to work as fast as possible, so most reliable approach is what I'm looking for.

    Thanks again.
    Phil

The fastest approach would be to remove their install, and put yours on.

But the best approach when taking a site live is usually to be using the latest code.

And, if you're planning to add additional mods that are designed for the newer version, upgrading is also a good idea.

Thanks for the advice Dr. Byte.

I decided to go with: install 1.3.7.1 on their server, copy my localhost version's files across, then copy the database across too. This has worked.

I know it's always best to use the latest code, but I noticed that the version I'm now using is the one that the google checkout module was developed for.

My next step is to install that module, can anyone give me any heads-ups to any *lethal* issues arising from installing a module? Would rather be ready for it than have another unexpected pitfall.

    Almost there!!

Really happy actually, singing ZenCarts prasies for being so straightforward. The way I see it is once I've set up one store, I can only get better at doing it. Anyone out there with issues, keep pressing on!

Goodle Checkout functions fine with 1.3.8a...

You must have SSL installed and functioning for this to connect and I believe curl
