Default Can we install the whole cart into a ssl folder?

    Hi,

I want to make sure I have ssl for my zen cart. My host states that we can simply create a sub-folder with the name "ssl" and place all documents that we want secure into this folder? Do I just need to install the whole cart into this folder? Will this cause any problems?

    Thanks.

Unless you have a very good understanding of how each Zen Cart page is built up from literally dozens of files, you would be safer to install all the cart files into this folder.

However maintaining this becomes a real pain, and I would advise either requesting that your host create a symlink to your non-SSL cart so that you don't need to (assuming that you are on a Linux server) or move to a host that doesn't use this rather painful approach to security.

Let me guess, your host has never heard of ZenCart certified hosting?

Well, I would guess that it is a shared ssl. What you need is a dedicated ssl (and you will need dedicated ip for it). The price for the whole package like that is under 100usd/year (or 50, depends on which ssl you use)
I no longer provide installation support on forum for all my modules. However, if there are real bugs with the modules please feel free to contact me

A very small price to pay for customer confidence - you recoup it in the first couple of sales.

SSL is not just a technical issue - it's more a question of how customers feel about shopping with you...

... to me, dedicated IP and SSL on a webshop is a fundamental.

The point I was trying to make was that SSL is easily done WITH the right host selected to begin with.

Their saying that you just "create a new folder" tells me they don't have a clue. While there are LOTS of things I have no clue about, I can recognize a host that knows nothing about ZenCart in a heartbeat. Especially with a story like this one!
