Hi I have to change my domain names as someone who was doing me a Zen Cart website has let me down. but for all I paid for the domains he has registered them in his name and will not answer my calls. Anyway my problem is I ampretty well established and donot want to change my company name so I had thought about putting a UK on the end, this is the tricky part does it sound stupid when it comes to getting your URL and BlahblahUK.co.uk.

Have you tried asking the registrar he bought the names from to transfer them? If you can prove that you paid him for them, you may be able to force him to give them up. It sounds like breach of contract to me. I don't know what kind of small claims court you have access to (without hiring big lawyers).

As you are an established company, you certainly can prove that he didn't invent the names.

Hi unfortunately this was a so called friend who I had arranged to pay on a monthy basis through paypal so all payments don't have a note on them or any kind of description. I just have to get on with it and start again.

Helen.. don't give in yet... There are methods to re-claim your domain names.

Are they dot COM, or dot CO dot UK ?

Where would you like your domains located?

This is important, because most webshops are parochial (serve a specific territory).

Hire a lawyer and begin proceedings. The longer you wait the more your position will deteriorate. Hopefully he will come to his senses quickly when he realizes you are serious.

Emails, telephone records, conversations with other friends and colleagues. There's a paypal receipt. Your name is on the business. Make careful notes of precisely what happened with as much detail as possible. If your story is more credible than his, you will win. In all likelihood, he'll fold as soon as he gets the first letter from your lawyer.
