Restrict Ordering to specific Manufacturers

Hi everyone,

I've set up my first site using zen cart and I'm very impressed with everything it can do. However, I have been having difficulty with a specific requirement needed for my site.

I need to restrict orders so that they are only from one manufacturer at a time. In other words, I need to prevent adding to the cart once the first product from a certain manufacturer has been added (or something similar). I will be extremely grateful for anyone who can help me with how to do this.

This would take a good bit of custom coding to perform and IMO if I saw 2 items that I wanted and could not add them to my order I would be put off and shop elsewhere...

Explain why you need this and I am sure that a workaround can be generated

I need this because once the orders are placed, delivery will occur directly from the manufacturer to the customer. Typically they will want to order a bundle of items from one manufacture that will be delivered and installed by them. My site ties multiple vendors together on a central site. If the customers order any item available they'll end up with delivery from many vendors that is highly undesirable. I need some way of clearly warning them of this and ideally prevent them from issuing orders from multiple venders. (or prevent them from ordering from different categories) .

If items are annonymously dropshipped - you can have a description in your shipping policies that items will be shipped from the closest warehouse that has available stock and that this might/will cause multiple shipments.

Through using table rates you can mitigate shipping charges

DID YOU MANAGE TO FIND A WAY TO DO THIS SO THAT ONCE A CERTAIN MANUFACTURER OR CATEGORY GOES INTO THE CART THEY CAN ONLY ADD PRODUCTS FROM THAT MANUFACTURER OR IN THAT CATEGORY LEVEL..

I HAVE SEVERAL VENDORS IN 1 CENTRAL SITE AND I WANT TO LOCK IN TO ONE VENDOR AT A TIME

HOPE SOME CLEVER PHP CODER KNOWS HOW TO DO THIS

IM SURE IT CAN BE DONE (MAY BE HARD)

EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE RIGHT
