    Default configure.php permissions

    Hello,
I have just installed zen cart. I have read all the materials and followed the directions but I'm getting this error at the top of my page:

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/keithga/public_html/includes/configure.php.

It seems some people are getting that message for obvious reasons, but I know how to set permissions. The permissions are set correctly for that file. The error message will not go away. Has anyone encountered a similar problem or does anyone know a workaround?

    Thank You,
    Keith

You will have to set the permissions to 444 (not 644) - and on some hosts, the only way to set to 444 is via the C-Panel on your hosting account. Some hosts do not allow CHMOD to 444 to be set using a FTP program.

If you are SURE the permissions are set to 444, then discuss this with your host.

... I've heard of people using 400 as a setting...

    Thanks for the quick response!

I was under the impression the file could be set to 644. Well, I just tried to set it to 444 via cpanel and it just sets back to 644. Hmm...

Well I just figured it out. There are 2 different file managers on my cpanel. For some reason only the "Legacy" manager allows 444. Thanks again!
