I've been reading around for some time in preparation, done a few experiments, but I am still not clear on the best approach: I have a 1.2.7 install (client resisted the imperative to downtime to upgrade) on a server with mySQL4 type setup, with image manager as the only add-on. I want to/have to move to a mySQL/PHP5 setup, and upgrade to 1.3.8a. What is the best path to take? I am not bothered about templates, as I am happy to recreate/develop the site in that way as part of the move. That is no problem. My problem is with regard to the database - in all my messing about trying things people have mentioned, I've not got a successful link to a copy of the 1.2.7 database.
And, of course, I'm running out of time. Any suggestions as to the best way to deal with it would be appreciated, to say the least. I see the main problem to be to do with database prefixes, by which I mean those attached by setting up a database on this or that server, not configure.php prefixes. And as both servers are in the same DNS zone, I am not free to duplicate the 1.2.7 prefix, as I see it, using cPanel to create a database to link to a manual install of Zencart.
