    Since the encoding of the Bulgarian letters is outside the ASCII set, there are 4 cells in the database used for each letter. Increasing to 256 will allow using more letter in Cyrillic, but will bring some troubles. Mainly this was the reason for me to make the translation. Everyone is free to do whatever he wants of course.

    Hi guys we are getting a big team here. I have struggled a lot with Bulgarian language. Lazy_666 thanks for your great translations. I am glad u find them just after translating the Admin panel .

    Here are the steps which I have to do to have no trouble with 4 characters:

    The one most important thing is to change your query_factory.php
    Then you have to make sure you change your english language encoding to en_US.utf-8, otherwise you will get ?????? or something like #ask123;#fgk123; insteat of bulgarian alphabet.

    And dont forget to change your COLLATION.
    Here are some usefull tips if you are using ssh:

    show variables like "character_set_database";
    show variables like "collation_database";

    alter database nameofdb COLLATE utf8_general_ci;
    alter database nameofdb CHARACTER SET utf8;

    I hope my post is helpfull take care guys and enjoy this great tool called Zen-cart :)

    Cheers

    In v1.3.9 you don't need to touch query_factory.php.

    I have added a Bulgarian letter Ж into all English files, so I can encode them in UTF8, I will upload files together with Bulgarian language pack.
    This works for my new shop. It should work for you too.

    Also, I will add Bulgarian provinces.

    Regrettably, there is still some room for improvement. Please try with this char "ш". It seems it is not handled quite good.

    I will try to upload the whole zen-cart install in my contribution, regrettably the file is quite big, so I think I will not be able to.

    Please guys, be alittle bit more patient.

    Good news everybody.

    The final COMPLETE utf8 translation is here and awaiting review.
    I spend few hours of testing and I was unable to find any problems. However, if you find problems, please post so I can review them.
