Searchable Attributes based on Model

This one is interesting:

I have a customer that wants a site that sells car wheel rims. Each rim has a few different attributes (how many nuts it takes to fasten, something about offset, wheel diameter, and one other attribute that's unique to each make / model / year of car (if you can't tell I know how to put gas in my car but that's it)). That means I should set up an item (a certain rim model number) and add attributes to suit.

Here's the kicker:

Is there a way to design (or is there an add-on, module, etc) that would allow a customer to input the make, mode and year of their car and have all rims that meet the critera show up?

Each car has it's own 'offset', etc that's based off the make / model / year.

Is this something that's do-able or would I need to provide more information?

This is a question that requires very domain specific knowledge. Ask your customer if, given a vehicle's make model and year, they can determine which rims are appropriate. The answer may be "no" - you may need additional information. This will let you know what query parameters are required.

That having been said, you'll need to write a bunch of software to make this all work.

They can! Each car has a certain specification for their wheel and it's pretty much set per model / year.

... now I guess I'll have to learn how to code, huh?
