Default Re: Can't get XAMPP Apache and Mysql to run

After sleeping on the problem, I came back into the office and completely removed everything and reinstalled. That almost fixed all of the problems. Then I remembered to run setup_xampp.bat again and everything seems to be working just great.

I'm on page 75 in the manual now and am beginning to think that even a newbie like me might actually get this figured out.

FWIW, so far I love Goh Koon Hoek's book. I'm impressed that it's so easy to read. It's one of the best I've technical manuals I've ever picked up.

Thanks go out to all those who helped to answer my question!

red flag Re: Can't get XAMPP Apache and Mysql to run

i Installed version 1.3.8 on a local computer at home for some testing (fairly new to this) and am using on a a XAMPP server, after I have installed this and I try to go to the xampp phpmyadmin page it says "Cannot connect: invalid settings".

O did not change anyhting on the xampp server yet, it is all on the basic install, i was waiting to enable the cURL untill everything was working. Does anyone have any idea why the admin page is no longer working after install?

    all the services are running

    Thank you
    Bryan

Essentially, these are the steps I took before it started to run:

    1. Disconnect from the network server
    2. Disable AVGFree
    3. Do what the lady at the forum said:

so here is a quick work around that may help you out... 1.. make sure that the services for all the apps are un-installed by de-selecting them using the controller. 2...rename your xampp folder to say xampp1 and run the setup.bat in the folder... this should trigger a screen with the 'do you want to do this' and tell it to go ahead... then try to run apache (without services) from the controller... let me know...

Apache then started for me and reinstalled for Windows NT!

    Now everything runs!!
Sorry to bring up an old post, But thanks a lot, this has helped me out! Kudos to you!
