How can I set a fixed shipping charge?

on a per item basis? I need to charge X for product A regardless of size, weight, distance, or shipper, and then Y for product B, etc.

The Per Unit perweightunit Shipping Module uses the products_weight for the actual Shipping Cost on each Product ...

See if that one doesn't work for you ...

NOTE: you may need to adjust the Maximum Shipping weight in the Shipping/Packaging along with the Tare rates ...

I did the same to my shop. Different item, different shipping.

item A - shipping is $5
item B - shipping is $8


What I did was, I followed this guideline:

Then I set the zen cart Tare Weight to 0:1. By default it was 0:3.
To do that you have to go to Configuration > Shipping/Packaging.. and edit "Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight"

You could clone the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module and set a zone on each for separating out International ...

Then you can set the Unit price to a proportional amound such as 1.25 or 1.50 etc. to adjust the rate based on the current products_weight value used ...
