help question Removing the Add to cart button from certain products

I have been searching the forum and so far haven't found an answer to my problem. Some of my free downloads aren't files that are housed on my server but instead, are available through links to outside partners websites.

Is there a way to remove the Add to Cart button on just those products, so that there is just the information and the link?

If I put the quantity to 0 it puts the Sold out icon which I don't want either.

When you say "Use the Document - General product type" - could you be more specific... I tried looking for that option and couldn't find it. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Whenever you create a product in Admin->Catalog->Categories/Products, just next to the New Product button is a drop down box. You can select which product type you want to use here. I see that you've already created the products in question so whether you can simply change their existing product type, I don't know. You might have to re-create them. But once set up, you can go to Admin->Catalog->Product Types, select to edit the layout of Document-General, and configure your preferences. This approach will leave you with a set of products which look identical to all the rest except there will be no add to cart button, which is how I interpreted your original question. Check the Tips category on my site to see how I did this.

Product Type - Document General in version 1.3.9h still shows Add to Cart. How do you get the Add to Cart button to not show on items.
