Blank Install on Windows Install

Hello-

I am trying to set up the latest version of Zen Cart on a Windows IIS server, and I believe I have things where they need to be. However, when I run the install script at domain/store/zc_install all I am getting is the blank screen. I have already modified both config files with my database information, I have double checked the integrity of the install files. I have already applied execute permissions to the folders and sub-folders.

Any Help?

I'd try a new installation.

Create your database, upolad the files, then point your browser to the root of the site (or the subdirectory you uploaded the files to). You don't have to run zc_install manually.

Then let the Zencart installation script prompt you through the permissions changes, etc.

Does this program write to the config files automatically, or do I need to modify the config files ahead of the installation? The docs were unclear, so I modified the config files and uploaded them before running the script. What is your suggestion about that?

When I started using Zencart 4 years ago, the process was to upload the files, then change the file names of the config files from dist-configure.php to configure.php, and then change the permissions of both to 777, and let the installation script edit the files. I still do it this way, and it works fine, but I have read threads that suggest the installation script creates the config files now.

Either way, don't edit them before running the installation program.

Re installing the files made the difference. I was able to get the proper install screens.

Last question:

The Zencart fitness check showed that my server was running in PHP Safemode. Apparently, I have to have the server admin turn this off, so that Zencart will run properly. Do you think it will install correctly in this mode, as I cannot reach admin until monday?

Any thoughts?

I looked into all these hosting plans. But my client needs to run windows because he has a .NET website. So I am trying to find a good host that runs .NET and PHP/MYSQL. The host responded back saying they cannot turn safe mode off on Windows servers. They are running PHP 5.xx. Shouldn't I be able to control it through PHP.INI?
