    Default Email error that makes no sense

    Email Error: Could not instantiate mail function. Please check Admin->Configuration->Email Options->Email Transport.


    This error is ruining my website for no apparent reason. The site stopped sending emails to me but did allow transactions. Now it will not let anyone register, it cannot retrieve passwords for those who forgot, nor will it send emails.

    I have checked the settings so far and have found nothing different. Its set to PHP has worked perfectly till THIS WEEK.

    The ONLY thing I did change was I added a similar domain name that redirected to the main site. I just took this feature away.

    Any suggestions? I rely on this site so this is super important I get it fixed.

    My GD hosting email caused the same problems.

    As per the links above, you may find that the PHP method will no longer work due to changes made to your server by your hosting company. Changing to SMTPAUTH and specifying your SMTP credentials (supplying your real mailbox username/password/etc) lower in the same screen will likely resolve your problem.

    you may find that the PHP mail method will no longer work
    Confirmed...PHP does not work for GD email servers.

    I set it to another setting and it started working. Strange when you do nothing and your system messes up.

    Strange when you do nothing and your system messes up.
    As you'll find from other posts on these forums, your host (GoDaddy) suddenly changed their system without any warning to their customers - leaving them to have to find out what was going on all on their own.
