Default Local Sales Tax Mod incorrectly taxing shipping

Shipping isn't taxed in the state of Florida, so I've made the Tax Class to be --none-- in the shipping module. The standard sales tax for the state is 6% and it correctly tabulates only on the goods, not the shipping. The Local Sales Tax Module that adds the county's .5%-1.5% surtax, however, is still calculating on the goods+shipping. How do I get it to stop that? That tax shouldn't be there. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm ... that's not my understanding ... I'm pretty sure that shipping is taxed in Florida (where I am, anyways).

Found this (http://www.jonescpa.pro/blog/2010/is...tax-purposes-2) link that implies (more searching needed) that if you've got a store-front where someone could come and pick up the product, then the shipping is "optional" and not taxable. If, like me, your store is totally web-based I believe that you need to tax your shipping.

Note: I am neither an accountant nor a lawyer; you should consult your accountant/lawyer for the "right" answer for you.

Anyway, in direct answer to your question if you use your admin's Modules->Order Total and change the sort order so that the Taxes come before the Shipping, then taxes won't apply to shipping.

People do have the ability to come and pick it up so tax isn't collected. Even with the Sort-Order changed, here is what I get:

    $99.99 Sub-Total:
    $6.00 FL Sales Tax (6.0%):
    $0.62 Local surcharge (.5%):
    $24.13 United Parcel Service (Ground):

    $130.74 Total:

So we see the FL Sales Tax of 6% is accurately only on the $99.99, but the Local surcharge of .5% is on both the $99.99 and $24.13.
