Adding manufacturer helped my problem also. I was also using sefu and it seems that it doesn't work with product type book. Any idea if this can be fixed?

Can anyone please tell me where can i change CSS for book genres sidebox? I want to remove borders and increase fonts and color.
And if it is possible to change break word in dropdown menu. It cuts most of the words now, even thou there is enough space.

    tnx

    Hi,

I just added this plugin, works great!

Is there any way I can change the "Genre" or "Type" option to something else, since I don't use it but need a pull down menu kind of option that can be sorted for "book awards"?

    Thanks!

    Hi
Moku is probably still busy earning a living, he said way back he'd be back in November sometime..

Here is an extended BETA version of the moku book product for zc 136, I liked his layout so much I gave up on the old style book type files from way back, and created loads of extra fields so people can use them or not, they are settable in the book type admin. Moku knows I'm playing around..

You will have a choice of having 'grid' product listing, or row (standard), grid is obtained by setting a category to 'all book type' in admin. Its assumed you have all books in that category of course.

I will answer the obvoius questions now,

    1) No I don't know yet how to make this overlay an existing ordinary moku book installation - but someone could take the sql I've provided (which creates all tables) and modify it to an 'update sql only' to populate the existing tables with extra fields - but there are new tables too.

Use this beta version on a (non-moku book) test cart so you see what changes I made.

    2) Yes it does appear to work ok, let me know by P.M if any probs, as otherwise this thread will get confusing.

3)Yes I used the moku files as a base, I added extra database fields throughout but only changed coding where necessary.

Most of the moku files remain intact but product_listing.php gets a facelift, because it is the Dr.Byte 'grid' version modified further by me.

4)Yes there is some documentation in the pack

5)It's working at hareslade.com in a slightly previous version with my books, I will upgrade mine there soon.

Temporary 'extended book type' download at
    http://www.hareslade.com/zc125/downl...PE_JPH_V_1.zip

AND just for good measure, I created a BETA new 'picture gallery' product type, a clone of the book type, which can use Image Handler 2 to create the large main gallery picture images.

This one's intended to look like singapore gallery, but the gallery product type is 'similar to' other zencart products, not the inserted 'cuckoo' that my singapore add on is. It seems ok to have both book and gallery types installed.

I will start a thread on this gallery product type later, in the meantime p.m me, don't post here, with any probs PLEASE. You'll enjoy playing with this one..

Temporary download of 'gallery product type' at
    http://www.hareslade.com/zc125/downl...ERY_JPH_V2.zip
And of course, anything can happen with these new ideas, so don't risk your live site with them just now, and gallery needs a bit of testing.

This gallery product I'm not using publicly just yet, and would appreciate feedback on whether people can successfully get the slightly modified IH2 version I supply in the zip, to work ok with gallery type.

Just to wet your appetite, the IH2 version I came up with works with an 'off web' cache folder, a minor downside is that zoom facility is affected. Its explained in the zip docs.

Hey dudes, I really need help.

    I followed these steps:

    1. It's the module file "product_listing.php": includes/modules/my_template/product_listing.php Wich overrides this core-file: includes/modules/product_listing.php
    2. Four files have to be copied from core-files, even if they are unmodified. It's this three files: includes/modules/pages/product_book_info/header_php.php includes/modules/pages/product_book_info/jscript_main.php includes/modules/pages/product_book_info/jscript_textarea_counter.js Wich are copies of sames files in: includes/modules/pages/product_info/ And the stylesheet for custom template ("my_template") wich also have to be copied from template_default's one: includes/templates/my_template/css/stylesheet_books.css Wich is copied from: includes/templates/template_default/css/stylesheet_books.css
    3. Made copy and paste of the code in add_to_mysql
    4. Drop the rest of files in zencart tree.

Then I Logged into the admin area and I had the book product type, but when I try to Create a ver new book element, the system say to me.

    1146 Table 'libreria.TABLE_BOOK_AUTHORS' doesn't exist
    in:
    [select a.book_authors_id, book_authors_name, book_authors_nickname from TABLE_BOOK_AUTHORS a, TABLE_BOOK_AUTHORS_INFO b where a.book_authors_id = b.book_authors_id and b.language_id = '2' order by book_authors_name]

¿Where and when these constants were created and how can I modify them?

My tables are book_authors and book_authors_info

Also when I go to the extra menu, no book extra exists.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi all,

First of all, sorry. Double sorry.
For two reasons: for not being here for a so long time and, unfortunately, for not being able to work on this anymore.

Hareslade, thanks for using my files as a base for making it better.

Before leaving, I uploaded all my last files, not released yet. It contains an interresting "Products Persons" contribution (just like the "Products Languages") wich could be very useful, not only for books but for any kind of products, if it was finished by someone.

Here are the three contributions I worked on, in the last state I leave them in June 2006: (understand that it's only for developers, as it's much more raw files, not releases!)

    Product Book
    Products Languages
    Products Persons

I hope Hareslade you will find this files useful for your own contribution. Sorry for not being able to work on it any more.

    Good luck! :)

    Hi Moku,

What a shame you can't continue. Your effort has been greatly appreciated.

To my knowledge I'm running the latest versions of PHP and MySQL (Version 5.0.17) on my test machine with a program called "Uniform Server". ZenCart works perfectly out of the box, but when I installed Hareslade's Product Type Book, I ran into trouble when trying to update the databases. MySQL kept coming up with an error whenever I tried to install the patch: ADMIN_PATCH_SQL_EXTENDED_BOOK_TYPE.txt. Around line 552, Hareslade uses a KEY called "condition". For some reason my version of MySQL refuses to accept this key and I can only assume that it's a MySQL reserved word. Maybe older versions of MySQL aren't effected, but my version certainly is.

To get Hareslade's Extended Book Type working I simply made the changes below:

Open ADMIN_PATCH_SQL_EXTENDED_BOOK_TYPE.txt. and go to lines 549 to 553. Alternatively, do a search for (book_condition_id) until you see the lines
    shown below.

    #=================
    PRIMARY KEY (products_id),
    KEY color (book_color_id),
    KEY condition (book_condition_id),
    #=================

    Change

    KEY condition (book_condition_id),

    To read

    KEY cond (book_condition_id),

MySQL should now accept the altered patch. Unfortunately the "Condition" dropdown won't work properly in the Admin section, but everything else will. If you like Hareslade's contribution, you will have to search the rest of the book code to change the "condition" key to "cond" whenever it's called. I haven't bothered to do this because I'm only evaluating the contribution at this stage.

I have no idea why my version of MySQL is coming up with the error, so if anyone out there does knoiw, please share it with us.

    John

Yes. I have installed this on my store and all you have to do is use one of the additonal fields for the ISBN-13 or EAN number. However, I don't believe the standard search in ZC will search these fields.

You can check out my install at www . my libros . com (take out the spaces of course).
