Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 support

I am interested in installing the EZ Populate mod and I have a few questions.

I have installed a mod Tabbed Products Lite 3.8 using my own custom template.

1) Will Easy Populate overwrite any files concerning my custom template or Tabbed Products Lite?

2) Will Easy Populate be recognize the tags of Tabbed Products lite example <!--%Product Description%--> and all html code used in a product description?

tonysebay - instant downloads are set via your Conf->Attribute Settings > Downloads Controller Order Status Value Lower/Higher
You would have to write a SQL query to insert the download file links as EP does not include these...

EP and EPA work slightly different in their file structure so I don't know if file downloads are part of EPA really you should be using EPA forum on the authors website as he/users of that can advise you better!

2) Will Easy Populate be recognize the tags of Tabbed Products lite example <!--%Product Description%--> and all html code used in a product description?In theory YES as you are just importing text into the product description, so the format will stay the same when inserted into the dbase... but as always test... test... on your test site then backup... backup... and insert into your live site

wickerman - Sorry missed your post

the zip file looks fine and should upload without any problems, your problems you are seeing is because you haven't got your attributes setup properly if you use the attrib.txt file, you are not seeing it in the way they work ( Do not use the attrib.txt file as this is wrong)

Every time you up load a new attributes file and if you have changed any of the attribute entry headings it will change them in the dbase, that why you are struggling, so it is getting conflicking details in the attribute values as they have to be the same for all products as they are unigue to that attribbute not product.

I am thinking you need to look at attributes again set them up in Zencart first and use the download files to edit first and you will win that way.(don't create file yourself use the file supplied and just a the price to the attribute to product)
As far as I am aware you are not limited to the qty of attributes so you can have as many as you like as long as they are unique, the only downside is that you will struggle if you excede 256 columns as excel and OO cannot cope with this, this is a problem I am trying to get around myself but a option is CVSed see earlier posts in this thread for the download links

ok attempted an install. Copied all files and folders, checked permissions. It is now installed.

I have 4 easy populate's under my configuration tab...

How to I get rid of these? is this a database issue and if I restore will I need to run the install again?

Ok final it has been installed and working properly...

Although I attempted to install this numerous times and now have 7 total Easy Populates under my admin configuration tab. Can anyone advise me how to remove these???

On another note the file looks perfect for my needs and even includes the custom tags for my product descriptions!!

Ok. I figured it out.. just had to look. Hopefully this helps somebody though.

After my second try installing EP, it created 2 separate records in the table: "configuration_group"

In you admin, check the id# of the extra one that most likely takes you nowhere, delete that from the database.

can anyone advise why 'Download Complete tab-delimited .txt file' would not give the same number of records as 'Download Model/Price/Qty tab-delimited .txt file'?

i've just started investigating and sure enough there are part numbers missing from the 'whole' file that are in the model/price/qty file.

Not sure about easy populate advanced but with standard EP if you copy all the information to a new row in the spreadsheet with the exact same model number and change just the catagory, EP will insert it as a linked product making the original entry the master.

I tried this, but it didn't work. I received this message. Any suggestion?

I have spent hours trying to figure out how to install easy populate. I don't know what I'm missing. I've never used zen cart before but I do lots of web design and development including flash and wordpress. I can't believe this has stumped me! All I want to do is install easy populate standard. I downloaded it and was confused by the install directions. Despite what all the forums and everything I found on google it was not self explainitary. What does "4) Upload all files in their respective directories." mean? What are their respective directories? I eventually installed the SQL patch which finally did something, giving me the easy populate option under configuration but I still don't have the option under tools. What am I doing wrong? Please help! Also if anyone knows some good tutorials on this kind of stuff....

Download easypopulate zip file.
First make a folder on your computer named easypopulate.
Then KEEPING FOLDER strucures intact..extract contents of zip
to your newly created folder, using program such as winzip..
you should then have a folder
on your computer with structure as below..
easypopulate
/admin
/temp
/admin folder
should now have folder structure as below
/includes
easypopulate.php
You upload content of those folders into equivalent folders
of your zencart install..
BACKUP YOUR ZENCART STORE AND DATABASE BEFORE
INSTALLING EASYPOPULATE
